After having spent 20 years of her life with her ex husband (15 of which were married) Seven years after the fact, as a single woman, Angela is totally at peace accepting God’s Will for her life. Angela desires to help encourage & inspire women “While” they are experiencing challenges. For during times of adversity, women can receive peace which is necessary as they learn how to navigate through life, despite what they are experiencing. Angela has responded to The Call & is committed to inspiring & encouraging women of all ages. Angela believes that we all have the ability to be trendsetters & we are capable of standing firm on God’s Word, while in the midst of our storms. Paying it forward is Angela’s motto. After being inspired by so many women in The Village, Angela learned how to connect to God for herself. As a result, her primary focus and desire is to bless others by sharing what she know about God in hopes to inspire them to connect to God for themselves! All for the Glory of God! For it is always and only about Him! What is the title(s) of your books? I am an author of 2 Books of Devotionals; “Path To Still Waters” & “Journey To Connecting With God”. I also shared a short version of my story entitled, “Journey To Finding Me”, which can be found in an anthology project that is an anthology project entitled, Rebuilding Your Life , Moving Forward. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer, what is inspired you? As a child, I never desired to become an author. I actually always wanted to be a teacher & then a nurse. However, becoming an author was almost an out of the blue spontaneous thought that I know was truly inspired by God. I wrote my First Book of Devotionals as a result of coming through one of the toughest challenges in my life. After a 20 year relationship, (15 of which were married), I had to make the decision to stop holding onto a broken marriage after my Ex husband’s second affair. After getting through the challenges of letting go, I had to deal with the bitterness & unforgiving heart. It took me about 3 years to finally forgive my ex, his sister, his former mistress & even some backbiting family members. However, after I finally healed, God inspired me to write about the importance of Acceptance, Repentance, Forgiveness & Expressing Thankfulness to God. Thus, the reason I used scriptures & expressed thoughts on those four points. Do you have a favorite scripture or quote? I actually have 2 favorite scriptures which I credit for helping me regroup every time I lost my way... One is Romans 8:28 Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. The second is Mark 11:24 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. As far as fav quote, I have to say, Iam my brother’s keeper. How long does it take you to write a book? My experiences were different for each project. However, I must say that writing the books of devotionals were fairly easy. For those two projects, I simply wrote down my thoughts after reading the scripture that I referenced on a particular day. Then I ended with a prayer. Really was nothing to doing either task. However, that was not the case whenever I wrote my short story in the anthology project. While it was easy to think of particular segments in my life’s journey, it became difficult whenever I didn’t know how much to say or leave out. The constant proofreading, adding to & taking out & changing the style of writing became overwhelming at times. Overall, It took me about 2 months before I finally completed the first draft. What is your work schedule like when you're writing? I never had a work schedule for any one of my projects. I will admit that method of operating is probably not the best way to go about writing a book. However for me, I work full time & after work my life & schedule was so unpredictable because I was juggling my responsibilities as a single mother & the CEO of a non profit organization. My days were so all over the place that I could go days & sometimes weeks without even expressing a thought on paper. Are you self-published? My first book, “Path To Still Waters”, was self published. That was a very frustrating experience bc it was all new to me so having to handle everything began to be challenging to me because I I stated earlier, I was juggling too much at one time. Adding to my plate finding an editor, graphic designer, proofreading & making the necessary changes to get book on Amazon just was not something that I took like a trooper. Lol For that reason, for my second book, “Journey To Connecting With God”, I decided to reach out to my friend & use her company, Semaj Publishings to assist me with completing my second book of devotionals. Which was the best decision ever! After, I completed writing the book, my publishing company took care all of the other steps to get the project completed. Glory to God! Where do you get your information or ideas for your books? As I mentioned briefly earlier, my first book was inspired by God. I believe God wanted me to give him the glory for my ability to let go & walk by faith. “Path To Still Waters” was a place where I was at peace “WHILE” still in the midst of the storm. That book was really was intended to encourage others to forgive, let go of pain and seek God for guidance. As a result of all the positive feedback from my first book, which was centered around my personal experience, I wanted to write a book to encourage others to start their own personal journey based on their own experiences. Journey To Connecting To God is a 31 day book of devotionals. It is a very easy read that takes less than Five minutes out of the readers morning. Just like my first book, the daily devotional consists of a scripture, my thoughts on the particular scripture and a prayer. All of the above is intended to enlighten the reader and inspire them to seek God for themselves. As mentioned, I wrote two books of devotionals. I was also, one of the authors in an anthology project spare headed by another one of my friends, Sharnel Williams, CEO of Shar-Shey Publishing Company. I shared my a short story comparing my challenges before & after marriage which lead to me developing into the woman I am today. When did you write your first book? I wrote my first book about 4 years ago, which was approximately 3 years after my separation from my ex husband. What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books? I was most surprised to I learn how much I really did’t know about myself. My weaknesses, my strengths things I didn’t know. I had so many humbling & challenging revelations that were not easy to accept because I “thought” I was doing everything correctly. Surprisedly, I had to learn the proper way to go through the writing experience “WHILE” learning how to properly go through the healing process. I had to learn how to cope & ensure certain challenges through my writing experience. How many books have you written? Which is your favorite and why? If I had to pick a favorite, it would be my first book! It really was instrumental in helping me realize how God could still use me to inspire others DESPITE my imperfections & everything I didn’t know. God really proved to me that His Word works when we trust & believe! As with anything & everything, I would advise everyone to always consult with God & remember that he could change our course at anytime. Which means, even after God inspires us to write a particular book, He could very easily decide that he no longer wants us to stop writing. Afyer writing “Path To Still Waters”, I had challenges which exposed the fact that I still needed to be cleaned out. I also “thought” I was better when in fact I was’t because derp down, I still thought I had something to prove to my ex husband , his former mistress & others. All writers should be encouraged to constantly ask God to reveal the hidden places of darkness & things that’s not like Him. In addition, writers really should reconsider their reasons for writing & only go forward if it really is going to benefit the life of others, which is a way to bring glory to God. Do you hear from your readers much? If so, what kind of things do they express? I have a book club so I often hear readers express words of gratitude & appreciation for my book. A few will refer to a particular devotional & state how it spoke to their heart. One reader in particular had something kind to say regularly, but the one thing that stands out is when she told me that she used my book of devotionals to help her neighbor who was suicidal. Nobody but God allows us to have those type of testimonies. There are numerous times that others expressed how my book really inspired them to continue to going in there. Sometimes reading certain statement can be a little overwhelming & I often get emotional. For the most part, I find myself expressing how God is actually using us to bless, inspire & encourage one another. It’s evident that is the case because I’m always more inspired and encouraged to keep sharing whenever my readers express gratitude. It’s truly the ricochet affect, whey we give out really comes back to us, Glory to God! What is your target market, who is your ideal reader? My target market use to be women. However, I discovered that “Journey To Connecting With God” has passed all age groups & genders whenever one of my male friends shared a picture of him & young men holding my book of devotionals! Evidence that God’s Word is universal & relatable for everyone who’s experiencing challenging times & simply need a word of encouragement. My 14 year old daughter used my book to start a book club with 3 of her friends. Confirmation that My book of Devotionals is universal & relatable to all age groups who are open to receive, Glory to God! While my book crosses age lines & gender lines, I will continue to focus on Women. Encouraging women is sooo easy because I do & say things that others did to assist me in my journey. Paying it forward is my motto. Each one teach one is the best way to live on God’s earth. When will we expect your next book to be published, inquiring minds want to know? Along with my publishing company, Semaj Publishings, I have spare headed an anthology project that consists of 5 other writers. I don’t have a title to my story yet, but my short story based on my most challenging experiences in life which includes surviving a car accident on March 25,2021; the day before the birth of my first granddaughter; 4 days before my 48th Birthday! My life’s journey consists of so many twists & turns. But I survived a car crash that could have been horrific & even fatal if one car would have hit mine. After trying to swerving, trying to go around a ladder which was in the middle of my lane, I hit the divider & found myself horizontally positioned in the 3rd lane of a very busy highway. Nobody but my guardian angels protected me on the highway! Glory to God! I will share my harsh realities & my gratefulness to God in my story. This particular anthology project will be released early next year. Do you have any upcoming events?
